# Kamigotchi Kamigotchi are network spirits that exist to provide you, the player, with emotional support and value. Kamigotchi — Kami, for short — explore the many and varied rooms comprising their world while interacting with other Kamigotchi. Kami are cute:

Kamigotchi can be used to harvest

**MUSU**, a valuable resource that serves as the primary in-game currency. Harvesting

**MUSU** also provides valuable

**Experience Points (XP)** to your Kami. Your Kami can also attack other Kami while [actively stationed](/gameplay/harvesting.md) in a room. Successful attacks, called

[Liquidations](/gameplay/harvesting/liquidations.md), result in the (temporary) death of the opposing Kami, with you receiving a portion of the opposing (killed) Kami’s accumulated

**MUSU**. In the following sections, you will find information on how [Stats](/gameplay/kamigotchi/stats.md) dictate performance, how [Traits](/gameplay/kamigotchi/traits.md) contribute to a Kami’s base abilities, and how [Types](/gameplay/kamigotchi/types.md) affects interactions within the game environment (Rooms and other Kamigotchi). Your Kami’s journey doesn’t stop at birth — [levels and skills](/gameplay/kamigotchi/levels-and-skills.md) let you shape its growth and refine its abilities over time. By earning XP through harvesting

**MUSU**, your Kami can level up and unlock Skill Points to invest in one of four Skill Trees:

**Predator**,

**Harvester**,

**Guardian**, or

**Enlightened**. These trees offer a mix of stat boosts and unique [Bonuses](/gameplay/kamigotchi/bonuses.md), from faster harvesting to stronger defenses or more effective liquidations. Whether you stick to one tree or mix and match, each skill unlocks new ways to customize your Kami and enhance its performance in the world.
